To realise the dream of Mahatma Gandhiji to make villages free from open defecation and in terms of Shri. Narendra Modi’s wishes under this programme all households in rural areas are be provided with private toilets to ensure make the villages open for Defecation Free.

In Dharwad parliamentary constituency 1,30,919 individual toilets have been constructed with an outlay of Rs. 138.43 Crore.

ಮಹತ್ಮಾ ಗಾಂಧಿಜೀಯವರ ಆಶಯದಂತೆ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ಬಯಲು ಶೌಚ ಮುಕ್ತಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಗುರಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಶ್ರೀ ನರೇಂದ್ರ ಮೋದಿ ಅವರ ಆಶಯದನ್ವಯ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೂ ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಶೌಚಾಲಯ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಮತ್ತು ಬಯಲು ಶೌಚ ಮುಕ್ತ ಮಾಡುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.
